If pavers are too weathered to read, measure thickness with a tape measure and note the edge profile, square or beveled. Edge-restraint replacement involves cutting spikes into compacted aggregate with a sledge or gas-powered driver. It is not high-tension work like a garage spring, but it is tedious, and the restraint must be set to exact elevation or the border course will fail again. For permeable CGI Eco-Stone systems, the clean-stone base specification is strict; add the wrong aggregate and you clog the voids permanently.
