Belgard Fence Installation: The Long Beach Owner’s Guide

Belgard fence installation in Long Beach typically runs $3,500-$9,000 for a complete vinyl or composite system, with most residential projects quoted and started within a week. We stock Belgard-compatible posts, rails, and panel connectors for the Ashland, Brentwood, and Lakeland series, and we carry the common failure points on our trucks. Most Long Beach owners first notice trouble when a post leans after winter rains saturate the sandy Belmont Heights soil, or when a rail pops its bracket after years of salt air working the fasteners loose near the coast.

Which Belgard Models This Applies To

Belgard fences are sold in series, not single model numbers, and the part you need depends on which line was installed. The Ashland series uses 5-inch square posts with routed pockets for horizontal rails; Brentwood steps up to 6-inch posts and a heavier wall thickness for wind-load zones; Lakeland is the picket-style line with 7/8-inch thick boards and aluminum-reinforced bottom rails. Check the post cap - Ashland caps snap on, Brentwood caps screw down through a molded hole, and Lakeland caps are flat with a slight pyramid. If the cap is missing, measure the post: 5-inch outer dimension means Ashland, 6-inch means Brentwood.

We source OEM Belgard components through their West Coast distribution in Rancho Cucamonga, but we also stock quality aftermarket equivalents from CertainTeed and Bufftech for discontinued color matches. The aftermarket rails fit, but the color match to Belgard’s older “Saddle” or “Chestnut” runs can shift by half a shade in Long Beach’s UV exposure. We always bring a sample block for the customer to approve before cutting.

Signs Your Belgard Fence Installation Is Failing

Signs Your Belgard Fence Installation Is Failing
  • Post leaning or wobbling at grade. The concrete footing has cracked or the post itself has rotted at the base, common in Long Beach where the water table sits high in Alamitos Beach and Naples. We excavate to 24 inches minimum and use a gravel bed with a sloped concrete collar to shed water.
  • Rail popping out of the routed pocket. The internal bracket has fatigued or the screw holes have wallowed out. Ashland rails use a hidden U-channel that corrodes faster within three miles of the ocean; we replace with stainless hardware.
  • Boards cracking or delaminating. Composite boards in direct south-facing sun can exceed 160°F surface temperature in Long Beach summers, accelerating the thermal expansion cycle. We see this most on Lakeland picket runs without shade.
  • Gate sagging and latch misalignment. The gate post is settling or the hinge screws have pulled from repeated wind gusts off the harbor. We install a steel frame kit and through-bolt hinges on anything over 42 inches wide.
  • Bottom rail collecting water and swelling. The weep holes are clogged or the rail was installed without the required 1/8-inch-per-foot drainage slope. We drill new weep paths and shim the rail bracket to restore pitch.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Scope Price Range
Single post replacement (concrete footing included) $450-$850
Rail replacement with hardware (per 6-ft section) $180-$340
Panel replacement (posts sound, 6-ft section) $380-$720
Gate rebuild with steel frame $650-$1,400
Complete fence replacement (typical 150-ft lot line) $3,500-$9,000

What drives the range: access for equipment, soil condition (caliche or fill in Signal Hill areas adds labor), and whether we are matching a discontinued color. Every quote is a flat written price with line-item parts and labor, delivered before work starts - Clause 1 of the Haven Standard. The 365-Day Done Right Promise covers workmanship; manufacturer defects fall to Belgard’s limited lifetime warranty on structural components.

An owner can safely check whether a post is loose by rocking it at grade, and can clear weep holes with a 1/8-inch drill bit. Do not attempt to reset a post yourself: digging within 18 inches of a known utility line without a USA North 811 ticket violates California law, and the Harbor Area has dense gas and electric corridors. Post setting also requires a laser level and a two-person team to hold plumb while concrete cures - a leaning post throws every attached rail out of square.

We pull permits when required by Long Beach Development Services, and we document the footing depth and concrete slump with photos for the customer’s record.
