ES Windows Windows & Doors: The Long Beach Owner’s Guide

We stock and install ES Windows-compatible windows and doors across Long Beach, with typical installed pricing running $4,500-$15,000 for replacement projects and $8,000-$25,000 for impact-rated installations. Most ES Windows hardware, weatherstripping, and operator components are available same-day through our supplier network, and we carry common sash locks, balances, and roller assemblies on our Long Beach service trucks. Homeowners usually discover a problem when a window won’t stay open, a door drags on the track, or they feel a draft along the frame that caulk won’t fix - signs that the internal hardware has worn past adjustment.

Which ES Windows Models This Applies To

ES Windows manufactures aluminum and vinyl window and door systems sold through regional distributors in Southern California, including their ES 5000 Series horizontal slider, ES 8000 Series single-hung, and ES Impact lines rated for high-velocity wind zones. The critical compatibility gotcha: ES Windows changed its roller housing design around 2018, so a post-2018 ES 5000 slider uses a 1-1/4 inch stainless roller with a rectangular stem, while pre-2018 units take a 1-inch nylon wheel with a round stem. The model date is stamped on the spacer bar between the glass panes, visible when you open the sash and look at the top edge of the frame.

We source OEM ES Windows parts where the series is still active, and we spec quality aftermarket equivalents from Truth Hardware and Amesbury for discontinued lines. The aftermarket decision depends on whether your warranty is still in force - ES Windows’ original warranty requires OEM components for coverage, though most Long Beach homes with ES products installed between 2010 and 2020 are now past that window. We document the part origin on every quote so you know what you’re getting.

Signs Your ES Windows Windows & Doors Is Failing

Signs Your ES Windows Windows & Doors Is Failing
  • Window sash drops or won’t stay raised. The coil balance or spiral tension device has lost tension, usually from corrosion in Long Beach’s salt-air environment. ES Windows single-hung units use a block-and-tackle balance that fatigues after 8-12 years near the coast.
  • Door drags or requires lifting to latch. The adjustable roller carriage has flattened or the track has dented from debris. On ES sliding patio doors, the bottom track is extruded aluminum that wears a groove before the rollers fail, so both need inspection.
  • Visible gap or light leak at the meeting rail. The interlock weatherstrip has compressed or torn, common in south-facing ES Windows units after five summers of UV exposure in Long Beach.
  • Condensation between glass panes. The dual-seal insulating glass unit has lost its seal - not a hardware part, but often misdiagnosed as one. The spacer bar and desiccant have reached saturation.
  • Lock tongue doesn’t engage or handle spins freely. The multipoint lock gearbox has stripped, typically from forcing the handle while the door is warped or the frame is out of square.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Service Long Beach Price Range
Window Replacement (standard) $4,500 - $15,000
Impact Window Installation $8,000 - $25,000
Balance / Roller Hardware Replacement (per unit) $180 - $340
Multipoint Lock Gearbox Replacement $220 - $450
IGU (Glass Only) Replacement $280 - $600
Weatherstrip Replacement (per opening) $95 - $195

What drives the range: unit size, whether the frame needs re-squaring, and whether we find water intrusion in the rough opening when the trim comes off. Under Clause 1 of the Haven Standard, every quote is a flat written price with a written scope - no change proceeds without a signed change order. Our 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the installation and hardware function. Call (424) 567-7009 for an exact quote; estimates are free.

DIY or Call Us?

There’s safe owner-level troubleshooting and there’s work that belongs to a technician. You can check the roller adjustment screw on an ES sliding door with a Phillips driver - it’s the visible screw at the bottom corner of the panel, and a quarter-turn counterclockwise raises the door. You can also verify whether the lock strike plate is loose, which causes misalignment before the gearbox fails.

What we don’t recommend: removing a window sash to reach a coil balance, or disassembling a multipoint lock. The balance is under spring tension and can release with force; the lock mechanism has delicate plastic cams that break if the sequence is wrong. We’ve replaced more ES Windows hardware in Long Beach because a DIY attempt destroyed the part than because the part failed on its own. If you’re unsure, call (424) 567-7009 and we’ll diagnose it on the visit - the estimate is free either way.
